My Story
Art runs in the family - my dad was a commercial artist for Western Auto. My aunt was an art professor at the University of Kansas and a well-known artist in Mexico. I began painting early in life, going to art clinics with my dad and painting for family and for fun. I took a break from painting to pursue a career in law enforcement and raise a family. After 28 years, I retired and took up painting again.
I paint in acrylics then finish with oils. I look to nature for inspiration - the way color and light both compliment and contrast with each other to create the perfect balance. This is the technique I use to create my artwork. I have painted in impressionism but prefer landscape and wildlife.
I work with the Leavenworth County Council on Aging to teach art classes monthly to our seniors. I believe there is an inner artist in everyone and enjoy sharing my passion for art with others. Watching my students create their own art and realize their own talent brings me joy and inspiration. I truly believe I was given this talent to share with others.
